Gala Evening – 11th March 2017

The 9th annual Laura Brennan Charitable Trust Gala Evening took place on Saturday the 11th March 2017. This year’s event turned out to be the biggest event yet with 240 people really looking forward to another successful evening. The venue once again was the wonderful Grand Hotel in Malahide and began with a Champagne reception. Guests were greeted by The Celtic Rhythm Drummers who lead everyone into the function room.

This year’s MC was once again the wonderful Síle Seoige. Nuala & Pat welcomed everyone and spoke about the work of the Charity over the past 12 months and the difference that the charity is making to the lives of so many children. They also spoke about the numerous fundraising events that had taken place during the year and expressed their heartfelt thanks to all those involved. A video containing numerous testimonials from parents of children who have been helped by the Trust was shown to all. Everybody was presented a charity bracelet bearing an inscription from Laura's own Bebo site - "Life's Too Short to be Anything But Happy - LB". The after-dinner entertainment was provided by Jack2Jack who ensured that the dance floor was full all night long.

To date we have been privileged and honoured to be able to offer assistance to over 60 children and their families to the tune of €400,000. This would not have been possible without the continued support of so many people. We continue to receive massive local fundraising support from schools, businesses, sporting groups and individuals. Last year we were honoured to have been nominated as one of the staff charities of choice by Irish Life Assurance. At the end of 2016 the management and staff of Irish Life presented us with a cheque for a staggering €172,000. This will make a massive difference to our work and enable us to continuing to offer support to those children and their families that need our help.

Our sincere thanks to all who attended our Gala Evening and who continue to support the efforts of the Trust – we really look forward to seeing everyone again next year for what will be our 10th anniversary.
