LAURA BRENNAN MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT 2011
The 2nd Laura Brennan Memorial Tournament took place on 2nd, 3rd and 4th of September 2011. Templeogue were back to defend their title
and were joined by Tolka Rovers, Carraig na Bhfearr, DCU Mercy, Wildcats, Maree, Malahide and hosts Killester.
Friday night's action saw Killester win a close encounter with holders Templeogue and DCU Mercy overcoming a spirited Malahide team.
Saturday morning brought together old rivals Killester and Tolka Rovers with the hosts winning a tough battle by 11 points.
Wildcats and Maree both looked impressive with Wildcats eventually overcoming the Galway girls by 6 points.
Carraig na Bhfearr looked good as they overcame Tolka Rovers and Wildcats got into top gear with a comfortable win over Malahide.
Templeogue and Carraig Na Bhfearr served up an exciting encounter with Templeogue just hanging on for a narrow win and they then
overcame Tolka Rovers to seal a place in the semi finals.
DCU Mercy had comfortable wins over Maree and Wildcats to clinch top spot in pool B.
The last game in Pool A saw Killester needing to win or avoid defeat by no more than 5 points to make the semi finals otherwise
Carraig na Bhfearr would take the spot. In the best game of the tournament the Rebels were so unlucky to bow out of the
tournament despite a fantastic 5 point win.
Sunday's semi finals saw the holders, Templeogue overcome a talented Wildcats by 10 points and DCU mercy continued to
impress with a comfortable win over Killester. In the final, the girls from Templeogue fought hard to hold on to the trophy
but DCU Mercy proved to be too strong and ran out deserving winners.
Laura's parents, Pat and Nuala presented the trophy to a delighted DCU Mercy team.
To all the referees, table officials, friends and club members and especially all the teams we thank you for helping
us remember our beloved Laura.
